Foundation Strength
Small-group barbell and kettlebell training. Squat, hinge, press, carry — the patterns that run your life, loaded sensibly and coached closely. Progress is programmed, not guessed.
Good for: building real, lasting strength.
About the studio
The story of a small Asheville studio, the coach who built it, and the four classes we run every week.
The story
Maya Reyes spent nine years as a movement specialist in a physical therapy clinic. She watched the same arc over and over: people worked hard, got genuinely strong in rehab — and then lost it all back in regular gyms built for somebody else.
In 2019 she opened Marigold Movement to break that arc. The studio runs on three rules that haven't changed since day one: classes are capped at twelve, every program starts with a 1-on-1 movement assessment, and nobody is ever made to feel like they're behind.
Three hundred-plus members later, Maya still coaches the 6 AM class herself.
The coaching style is the brand: short cues, plain words, encouragement without cheerleading. You'll know exactly what you're doing, why you're doing it, and what comes next.
The classes
Every class is small enough that your coach knows your name, your history, and what you're working on this month.
Small-group barbell and kettlebell training. Squat, hinge, press, carry — the patterns that run your life, loaded sensibly and coached closely. Progress is programmed, not guessed.
Good for: building real, lasting strength.
A low-impact hour that works through hips, spine, and shoulders — the places a desk day stiffens first. No barbells, no jumping, no prerequisites. If it's your first class ever, start here.
Good for: beginners, desk bodies, recovery days.
Low-impact · Beginner-friendlyThe 6 AM conditioning class Maya still coaches herself. Intervals of simple, honest work — sleds, bikes, kettlebells — scaled to the person, not the clock. Done by 7, awake all day.
Good for: early risers who want the day won by breakfast.
The evening down-shift. Long holds, slow breathing, low light — a deliberate end to the day for bodies that trained hard or sat too long. Low-impact, always.
Good for: evenings, sore weeks, better sleep.
Low-impactHow every membership starts
Before your first class, you and a coach spend unhurried time on three things:
A simple movement screen — no test to pass, just an honest look at where you're starting.
Old injuries, a desk job, a sport you miss — the context that makes your plan yours.
You leave with a recommended class mix and a starting point that fits, not a template.
Unlimited $129/mo · 2×/week $79/mo · drop-in $18 — and your first week is free. It all starts with the free assessment.
